Visa Application Procedure (back to top)
A citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States temporarily for personal or business purposes must usually first obtain a visa. An applicant for a nonimmigrant visa should submit an application to the U.S. Consulate with jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence. When the applicant is planning to travel for business purposes, the U.S. Consular regulations require an official letter of support or invitation from the company with whom business is to be conducted.
Intergraph 2006 is registered with the U.S. Department of State through the International Visitors Office of the National Academies. The event is included on the listings provided by the International Visitors Office to Department of State Embassies and Consulates worldwide. Inclusion on this list is for communication purposes only. Inclusion on the conference list does not expedite or waive visa procedures in any way.
All visa waiver program travelers, regardless of age or type of passport used, must present machine-readable passports. Previous one-time exemptions for first-time visa waiver program travelers without machine-readable passports ended June 26, 2005. In addition, depending on when visa waiver program travelers’ passports were issued, other passport requirements will apply:
- Machine-readable passports issued before 10/26/05 – no further requirements
- Machine-readable passports issued between 10/26/05 and 10/25/06 – requires digital photograph printed on the data page or integrated chip with information from the data page
- Machine-readable passports issued on or after 10/26/06 – requires integrated chip with information from the data page (e-passport)

In order for Intergraph to attest to the purpose of the visit to the United States, a completed Intergraph 2006 conference registration form for the individual must already have been received by the conference registrar.

Dear <insert-manager-name-here>:
I would like to represent our company at the Intergraph 2006 International Users Conference, June 12 – 15, in Orlando, Florida. Intergraph 2006 is the international training and management conference sponsored by Intergraph Corporation. My attendance would benefit our company by ensuring effective use of our investment in Intergraph technology and software. The conference features an expanded technical program and workshops that will enhance my professional development and make me a more valuable asset to the company.
Attending this particular conference is a very cost-effective investment of money and time in comparison to other conferences and training. Purchased from a training provider, an equivalent number of hours of high-quality training would be worth thousands of dollars. This conference will give me three days of intense training and an opportunity to talk to the Intergraph experts – plus hands-on experience with new products and solutions.
Intergraph 2006 will allow me to meet other Intergraph users and learn about their successful implementations. The Intergraph technical staff will be there to demonstrate practical software solutions and easy-to-use tips and techniques, and to provide insight into future direction of the products that will impact our organization. If I pick up a couple of tips for improving my skills and boost my productivity by just five percent, that would result in saving two hours a week or more than 100 hours a year. And if I can share those improvements with the rest of our organization, the return on our conference investment would be multiplied.
Attendance benefits include:
- A view of Intergraph’s partners’ and exhibitors’ tools and solutions that could dramatically improve our processes
- Exposure to a great deal of information that is specifically relevant to our group – all in the space of just a few days
- A productivity boost for me and a great return on investment for the company
If I register by May 19 I will save $100 off the registration fee, thus the conference cost will be the $895 registration fee plus travel expenses and a few days out of the office. Compared to the time and money we’ve spent on our applications, this is a minimal expense that would result in increased productivity and more effective use of our software resources.
If you have any questions about the technical program or any other aspect of Intergraph 2006, please let me know, and I will share the conference literature with you. I hope you’ll agree that my attendance at this training and management event would make a significant positive impact on our organization.
Thank you for considering my request.
Sincerely,
<insert-your-name-here>
